The Shaker line by Joep van Lieshout was made as a homage to The Shakers, a group of people who formed a special community in North America at the end of the 19th century.
The Shakers were very modern for their time, as they believed in equality of the sexes. They also performed ritual dances by moonlight and were completely self-sufficient: they produced their own food, houses, and furniture.
This barstool has a typical ’slanted’ seat and is standard made of clear-varnished oak veneer. Dimensions: WXDXH 40 x 40 x 99 cm, seat height 81 cm.
Design: Atelier van Lieshout (1998).
