"Furniture Made in Germany": 50th manufacturer certified

The Association of the German Furniture Industry (VDM) has awarded its new "Furniture Made in Germany" label to the 50th manufacturer. The kitchen manufacturer Ballerina-Küchen has now joined the circle of certified manufacturers. The seal promises the highest quality from German furniture production and is intended to provide consumers with guidance when making purchasing decisions.

"We are delighted about the high level of interest shown by the German furniture industry in the new certificate of origin," said VDM Managing Director Jan Kurth at the presentation of the certificate to the innovative and design-oriented family business. "We expect 'Furniture Made in Germany' to provide the industry with important impulses for domestic business and the expansion of export activities."

New label with strict quality criteria

Released in August 2020, the geographical guarantee of origin label requires that the construction, assembly and quality testing of the respective piece of furniture take place in Germany in order to be certified. In addition, the manufacturing process relevant to quality must also take place predominantly in Germany. Compliance with the criteria is monitored by the German Furniture Quality Association (DGM) on behalf of the VDM.

One of the most recent companies to receive certification is ambista member Möbelmanufaktur Kettnaker. It was awarded the "Furniture Made in Germany" label for its high-quality furniture systems. The certified furniture includes all products in the "Alea", "Soma", "Mio" and "Vita" series.
