Induction hobs with innovative extractors

Together with GfK, we present facts and figures about the furniture market every month. This month's topic is induction hobs with integrated extractor fan and their most important sales channels.

... of the turnover in the induction hob segment was generated by appliances with integrated extractor fans from January to October 2020.

This corresponds to a significant increase in turnover compared with the same period last year. Induction hobs with integrated extractor hoods generated more than 280 million euros in turnover in Germany in 2020. This corresponds to an increase in turnover of 32 percent compared to the same period of the previous year (January - October 2019).

By far the most important sales channels for these appliances continue to be the furniture and kitchen retailers, each accounting for 48 percent of sales. Both channels were able to increase sales significantly compared to the previous year. While the kitchen specialist trade recorded growth of 25 percent, the furniture specialist trade even recorded an increase of over 38 percent.

The fastest growing sales channel is online retailing: sales from January to October 2020 amounted to almost 4.3 million euros, 166 percent more than in the same period last year. As a result, the sales share of the total market has more than doubled to 1.5 percent in 2020.

At 2,779 euros, the average price achieved in the stationary specialist trade is significantly higher than in online trade, where an induction hob with integrated extractor fan is sold for an average of 1,569 euros. While prices in the stationary specialist trade are stable, i.e. at the previous year's level, the online average price has fallen by more than eight percent.
