What are Patricia Urquiola, the Bouroullecs and Sebastian Herkner doing in January? Where is design heading? Which ideas, colours, forms and materials are shaping new product concepts? And above all, what direction is the interiors market really going in? Where do manufacturers and designers from all over the world meet to check out the market and discuss how we’ll be living in future?
From 15 to 21 January 2018, around 1,200 top exhibitors, design stars and creative newcomers from 50 countries will be presenting the trends for the coming year at the international interiors show imm cologne. No other trade fair paints such a comprehensive, compact and well-structured picture of the international world of interiors. For one week, the exhibition halls in the cosmopolitan city on the Rhine will become the world’s biggest showroom for up-to-the-minute interior design, experimental living concepts, groundbreaking technologies, large-scale brand universes and the ideas of young designers.
The entire spectrum of styles and product ranges will be on display in no fewer than 11 halls. In the classic design segment Pure, big-name brands unveil complete interior philosophies and share their take on lifestyle with visitors. In the gallery-like halls of Pure Editions, exhibitors staging visionary furniture and interior design concepts present a treasure trove of ideas. This section of the fair is also home to inspiring formats such as Featured Editions; in 2018, the special exhibition will present installations dedicated to the theme of light and housed in fascinating “Light Labs”. The Pure umbrella also provides a stage for young labels and talented youngsters in the form of its Pure Studios and Pure Talents platforms. The 2018 edition of “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage” will be interpreted by Czech designer Lucie Koldova, who will be setting the biggest design event at imm cologne aglow in different “Light Levels”. The subject of light will also be the focus of the new Pure Architects exhibition format. Here, architecture-related offerings for floors, bathrooms and lighting as well as smart home solutions aim to provide inspiration for holistic interior concepts – especially for architects and end customers.
imm cologne is both: a reflection of interior lifestyles and a source of fresh impetus for the design scene. There is good reason why furniture makers and the media alike regard the imm cologne’s performance and content as the market’s trend barometer. This is where the B2B sector gathers, where designers come face to face with manufacturers and where professionals come in search of inspiration.
