Stilwerk goes Hospitality

For more than 20 years, the Stilwerk company has been presenting exclusive design diversity in its showrooms and brings everything having to do with interiors, living design and lifestyle together under one roof. With the expansion of its concept revolving around the field of hospitality, the company now wants to transfer the high level of design sophistication of its design centres to real living situations together with its retail partners, whether in hotels or apartments. The goal is to make living design truly experienceable for occupants.

New hospitality projects

Sophisticated design has been an integral component of the DNA of Stilwerk and its three locations in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Hamburg for two decades. In addition to the online shop, interior designers, planners and customers can discover the latest design trends here and allow themselves to be inspired for their own projects or own homes.

However, in order that the inspiration doesn't remain merely an idea, Stilwerk goes a step further: with Stilwerk Hospitality, the company now offers design enthusiasts the possibility to become familiar with the current trends in the living, life and furnishing areas live in a Stilwerk hotel. Amidst brand new chair designs, innovative sofa groups and modern sleep worlds, guests can live with their favourite pieces temporarily and experience them in the process.

"With the new hospitality projects, we wish to make the design diversity from the Stilwerk cosmos, which encompasses more than 800 brands, even more experienceable for our customers. And this not in the style of a typical showcase design hotel, but instead in a real single-family dwelling", Chief Operating Officer Tatjana Groß explains. The hotels should be more than just another holiday destination.

They should be a source of inspiration for design lovers, allowing them to discover furniture personally in a relaxed atmosphere and to live with them and try them out for a time. If the guest finds an item of furniture that especially appeals to him, he can look up details in the digital guest folder and receive initial consultation from the hotel staff if desired. Where there is an interest in purchasing, they then establish direct contact with the trader in the respective design centres.

Inspiration for at home

The company is making the first advance with the Heimhude project. In the heart of Hamburg, in the city district of Rotherbaum, between the university and the Alster lake, is a historic city villa, which has to date welcomed guests with 24 individually structured rooms and a large garden as the charming Hotel garni.

By the beginning of 2020, the jewel of a hotel covering approximately 800 square metres will be transformed into the stilwerk Hotel Heimhude based on a concept by Stephen Williams Associates. The aim is to honour the building’s charm and to use it as a stage that turns the stilwerk interior design universe into an intense experience for guests.

The new room concept is based on the living situation of a single-family dwelling, in which the kitchen is the centre of togetherness. An inviting living-kitchen area is the hub of the new hotel. This is where guests check in and out; here is where they meet to talk, drink a glass of wine or be creative together.

In addition to this, there are other individual havens with a high level of quality of time spent. "It is important to us that people can decide for themselves how they wish to use facilities in the hotel individually in keeping with their needs – whether for communication, concentration, inspiration or relaxation", Stilwerk owner Alexander Garbe explains.

In addition to Hotel Heimhude, the company is planning three more locations, which will be opened in the coming years: the Stilwerk Destination Rotterdam, the Stilwerk Hotel Travemünde and the Stilwerk Hotel Bergblick. These projects will further develop the concept of "Stilwerk goes Hospitality" and refine it with themes like co-working spaces and serviced apartments.

The new destinations enable every visitor an overnight stay in style. But that's not all: occupants can test items of furniture down to the smallest detail before they move into their own home. This is a unique luxury.
