The critical questions of digitalised living
How will we live in the future, and what will our homes be like? These questions are currently provoking much discussion and reflection. But are there already some clear visions of the future? What role will digitalisation and its mega-trends artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things play for the furniture industry?
Will more and more people live in closely connected communities and share everything with each other in a sharing economy? Or is the increasing connectivity of our daily home lives limited to within our own four walls? How will people and furniture communicate with each other, and which fields of application are likely to emerge first?
The format of the challenge
The questions are endless, but answers to them have been few and far between to date. This is exactly the problem that Koelnmesse and its long-term exhibitor Häfele plan to address with the incube8 Digital Living Challenge.
The objective is to present the results of the makeathon jointly at this year’s interzum. Challenge participants will have 48 hours in which they will work collectively and intensively to develop ideas in response to the above questions and produce initial designs and other haptic artefacts.
The organisers are calling upon up-and-coming thinkers whose minds work outside the box. The challenge is aimed at emerging talents in architecture and interior, product and industrial design who are fired up by the chance to tackle the issue of future living and digitalisation.
