What innovations are there in the field of wood-based materials for furniture production? Prior to interzum 2019, a workshop will once again deal with pioneering developments of the industry. The proven format has a new concept this year and is itself innovative: pitches, a dialogue and discussion forums have us looking forward to an exciting professional exchange.
One day prior to the start of interzum, the innovation workshop for wood-based materials on 20 May focuses on ambitious research projects and fascinating applications. Together with Koelnmesse, the Association of the German Wood-Based Materials Industry, the Dresden Institute of Timber Technology (IHD) und das Fraunhofer Institute for Wood Research, Wilhelm-Klauditz-Institut (Fraunhofer WKI) invite to the traditional meeting of experts. Already prior to the start of the leading international trade fair interzum, the industry in this way informs itself about current innovations of the wood-based materials industry.
Whether future-oriented developments in production or possibilities for using wood and wood-based materials even more compatibly in terms of function in furniture production, the workshop offers an exclusive opportunity to inform oneself about the latest trends.
Currently relevant innovations for surfaces, adhesives or process optimisation are illuminated by specialists and subsequently evaluated together. Especially interesting new products will be presented in short pitches this year for the first time.
Whoever is able to convince the audience of his or her idea wins the respective pitch. Any specialised questions can be discussed between the pitches.
In order to support up-and-coming participants in the wood-based materials segment, the KAV Award will be presented in the framework of the workshop. The Förderverein Holzwerkstoff- und Holzleimforschung (friend's association for the research of wood-based materials and wood glue) in this way traditionally distinguishes exceptional graduation projects of students. This time, not only prize money, but also internship positions in the wood-based materials industry will be awarded.
Two impulse lectures in the workshop illuminate the various expectations of the wood-based materials and furniture industries. Speakers are Dr. Jan Bergmann, chairman of the Verband der Deutschen Holzwerkstoffindustrie (association of the German wood-based materials industry) and Jan Kurth, CEO of the Main Association of the German Wood Industry.
Both will formulate their positions to the same theses from their perspectives. The specialist public is involved and can discuss the theses themselves at hosted theme tables and in the subsequent panel discussion.
A concluding TED vote among all participants will then attempt to determine where the trends with regard to quality, raw materials, adhesives, application and health lie.
