The design methodology of 'pragmatic design', developed by the Berlin architect and independent furniture designer Michael Hilgers, puts the problem to be solved into the focus.
During this design process, Hilgers ignores existing conventional products and develops a completely new and suitable product solution on a white sheet of paper.
The resulting furniture appears familiar at first sight, but by its reinterpretation, hidden functions or a surprisingly simple construction it offers an absolutely innovative answer to everyday living problems. Hilgers is never interested in the invention of a new spectacular form; he is rather attracted by the special in the everyday.
